Yes-psilocybin services are legal in Oregon under state law. In 2020, Oregonians passed Measure 109, which created a regulated system overseen by the Oregon Health Authority. Oregon is the first state in the U.S. to license and regulate psilocybin products and services.
It’s important to note that psilocybin remains illegal under federal law, though there is ongoing discussion about rescheduling it in the future.
In 2020 Oregon passed measure 109 and became the first state to offer a regulated framework called psilocybin services. A service center is a state licensed, supportive environment where you can ingest lab tested psilocybin mushrooms under the guidance of licensed facilitators. Confirm your service center and facilitator's license status here: https://psilocybin.oregon.gov/license-directory
Yes. In Oregon, psilocybin service centers are licensed and regulated by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). This means that everything from the quality of psilocybin products to the training and licensing of facilitators is carefully overseen. Sessions take place in a controlled setting designed to support comfort and wellbeing, not in unmonitored or unpredictable environments.
While no experience with altered states is entirely risk-free, the structured setting, professional facilitation, and state oversight greatly reduce risks and help create a safe container for personal exploration. At Ripple Journeywork, we also take additional steps to ensure safety—such as thorough preparation, clear communication, and individualized support—so that guests can focus fully on their journey.
In Oregon, psilocybin services are available to anyone who is 21 years of age or older. You do NOT have to be an Oregon resident to participate.
To access these services, clients are required to:
A prescription or medical referral is not necessary to participate in psilocybin services.
At Ripple, your journey is supported every step of the way. We take time to understand your intentions, listen to your concerns, and ensure you feel prepared, cared for, and accompanied throughout the entire process—before, during, and after your session.
Your safety is also supported through Oregon’s regulatory framework. All psilocybin products used at Ripple come from state-licensed manufacturers and are rigorously tested by state-certified labs.
This combination of intentional preparation, professional facilitation, and regulated sourcing creates a level of care and integrity that is unique to legal, guided experiences. It allows you to focus fully on your journey, knowing you are in a safe, supportive, and professional environment.
All inclusive packages begin at $1,150. This includes your comfortable wellness room from ($550 to $850), the thoughtful care and presence of your facilitator (from $500 to $2,000), and up to 50 mg of psilocybin mushrooms ($100 flat fee).
Routine urine 5-10 panel tests: Psilocybin and its metabolite, psilocin, are NOT included in the standard panels used by most employers or for routine screenings. These tests usually look for substances like marijuana (THC), cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, and PCP.
Specific testing exists: If there is a reason to suspect psilocybin use (e.g., in a legal case or specific medical situation), a specialized test can be ordered. These tests are more expensive and less common.
Urine tests: Generally, psilocybin can be detected in urine for up to 24-48 hours after use, although it may be detectable for 3 days.
Blood tests: The detection window is very short, often only a few hours after ingestion.
Hair tests: Hair follicle tests have the longest detection window, potentially detecting use for up to 90 days or even longer. However, hair testing for psilocybin is very rare.
Saliva tests: Psilocybin is typically not detectable in saliva for very long, if at all, and usually only for a short time after use.
The most significant risk during a psilocybin session is experiencing a psychologically challenging state, sometimes referred to as a “bad trip.” In rare cases, a participant may become unresponsive to guidance, feel disconnected from reality, or behave in ways that could put their physical safety at risk. In situations like these, our facilitators are trained to prioritize your well-being, which may include seeking emergency medical support and arranging transport to a hospital for professional evaluation and care.
At Ripple, we take a proactive approach to reducing risks. Each journey begins with a thorough screening process, including questions about your medical history, medications, and mental health background. It is essential to disclose this information honestly, as undisclosed conditions—such as certain heart problems, psychiatric diagnoses, or the use of contraindicated medications—can increase the risk of serious complications, including heart issues, hallucinogen-persisting perception disorder (HPPD), or severe psychological distress requiring hospitalization.
We also emphasize careful preparation. Your facilitator will work with you to set intentions, address concerns, and help you enter your session with grounding and clarity. During the session, your facilitator will remain a steady, supportive presence to help you navigate difficult moments if they arise.
It may be reassuring to know that since Oregon’s psilocybin program began, thousands of sessions have been conducted, and the number of cases requiring emergency medical services has been very low. While the possibility of serious complications cannot be eliminated, they remain rare.
We believe in being transparent about these risks, and we encourage open conversations with your facilitator during preparation. Understanding and accepting the full range of possibilities is part of making an informed decision to participate in psilocybin services.
Sliding scale pricing is a flexible payment model designed to make professional services, like facilitation, accessible to a wider audience. Instead of a fixed fee, a price range is established, in this case, $500 to $2,000. This model is rooted in principles of equity and is built on trust, empowering the client to choose what they feel comfortable paying based on a self-assessment of their financial resources.
While our facilitators are independent contractors who set their own rates, they have collectively agreed to this sliding scale framework to increase the accessibility of their services. The model encourages a client with greater financial means to pay at the higher end of the scale, which in turn helps support the availability of services at a lower rate for those with more limited resources. This system is a conscious effort to balance the professional needs and financial independence of our facilitators with our shared commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable service model for all clients.

We are committed to finding a way forward together that makes this experience possible for you.
An average administration session lasts around six hours. This will vary based on dosage, current medication and your bodies metabolism. This time allows for settling in beforehand and to ground yourself afterward. Because of this, it's best to set aside the entire day and have no major obligations. Having food waiting back at your lodging or a plan for food delivery is very helpful.
If possible, we recommend clearing your schedule for the day after your session too. Many people feel tired for about 24 hours post journey Giving yourself a day to rest and recover can help you integrate more easily.
As a client at a licensed psilocybin service center like Ripple Journeywork, you are required to remain at the facility for the entire duration of your psilocybin administration session, as mandated by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). The minimum duration is based on your dosage. This regulation is in place to ensure your safety and well-being, providing a controlled and supervised environment with a licensed facilitator present throughout the experience. Leaving the service center before the session is officially completed not only violates OHA rules but also poses significant legal and safety risks to you and the public. These risks include potential impairment that could lead to accidental injury, as well as legal risks.
Yes, absolutely. We offer both individual and group sessions. There are pros and cons of both. During your consultation, you and your facilitator can explore which option feels best to you.
No. Psilocybin facilitation is not therapy, medical treatment, or a substitute for professional mental health care.
A psilocybin facilitator’s role is to support individuals through a psilocybin journey in a safe and respectful environment. Unlike therapists or medical professionals, facilitators do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide treatment. Instead, they hold a caring, professional container for the experience, listening deeply and walking alongside clients before, during, and after their journey.
Facilitation unfolds across three vital phases: preparation, administration, and integration.
Preparation establishes trust and a strong foundation. In this phase, facilitators build rapport, discuss intentions, review history, educate and address concerns. This process helps clients feel emotionally and psychologically ready to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness with clarity and grounding.
Administration is the journey session itself. Facilitators maintain a steady, non-directive presence, ensuring a safe and comfortable setting. They monitor well-being and offer reassurance, allowing clients to move through their inner experience with support, but without interference.
Integration bridges the insights of the psilocybin experience with everyday life. Rather than interpret for the client, facilitators encourage self-reflection and help clients discover their own meaning. This process supports the client in carrying forward clarity, insights, or shifts that may emerge from the journey.
Through these phases, facilitators serve not as directors of the experience, but as steady companions who create conditions for safety, self-discovery, and growth.
Preparation helps you feel comfortable and supported throughout your psilocybin journey. Your facilitator will provide detailed guidance, but here are some key recommendations:
Set aside enough time. A session usually lasts around six hours, though this can vary. Plan for the entire day with no major obligations, and have food ready at your accommodations or arrange for delivery. If possible, clear your schedule the next day as well, since many people feel tired for up to 24 hours afterward.
Care for your body. In the days leading up to your session, stay hydrated and well-rested. On the day of, eat a light breakfast, but nothing too heavy. Avoid alcohol and recreational substances beforehand, as advised by your facilitator.
Limit distractions. Turning off your phone and other devices allows you to be fully present without interruption.
Bring what comforts you. Comfortable clothing, a blanket, or a meaningful item can help you feel grounded during your journey.
Prepare your mind. Reflect on your intentions and any concerns you may have. A journal can be a helpful tool for recording insights afterward and supporting integration.
By tending to your body, mind, and schedule in advance, you create the conditions for a more grounded and meaningful experience.
